I am 17 and just completing an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration with tpm. I came here straight after leaving school because I had one of their brochures about apprenticeships from a careers day at school. I decided upon this particular course purely because I enjoyed working with computers. A friend of mine recommended tpm to me, so I felt I could trust them.
My job involved general office work, such as using the telephone to liaise with clients, computer work and using spreadsheets to enter and retrieve data, but what I enjoyed most about my job was meeting new people.
All the staff at tpm have been really helpful and supportive to me, especially my personal assessor and business teacher. I have found my assessor to be very helpful, always available to help and support me, even with advice about how to deal with workplace matters. My teachers always helped me with any problems I had with my study and learning, which made me feel really comfortable.
This apprenticeship has given me so much more confidence and has helped me to build trust with my colleagues. This has allowed me to realise that I have personal strengths and new skills in organisation and the ability to manage my work and myself.
Getting myself on a course with tpm was one of the best decisions I have made, I am very glad I chose an apprenticeship first when leaving school; now I am ready to complete ‘A Levels’ in Travel and Tourism, Communication and Culture and Media Studies, before making an application to University. Ultimately I want to work in my family’s ‘event management’ business and I know the administration experience I have had will be really valuable.
