I’m 20 and have just finished my apprenticeship in children’s care, learning and development. I found out about tpm on the internet after they were recommended by my manager at the nursery where I work. I started training with them after beginning my course at another college.
I’m a nursery assistant. I love my job because I get to work with children everyday. My role involves all kinds of childcare duties such as playtime and reading stories, helping children to learn, play safely and develop. Thanks to my job and training, I’ve developed good team working skills and communication skills which are important for interacting with colleagues and parents. I’ve also acquired knowledge and additional skills from short courses provided by tpm on areas such as equality and diversity, paediatric first aid and HIV awareness. These will help with my long term career goals to work in schools.
tpm staff are friendly, helpful and very good communicators. The teaching and assessment processes are thorough. The night-time classes and online exams have been very helpful because they give you your results instantly. I also really value the visits from my personal assessor, the regular reviews and staff’s understanding about pregnancy needs and safety matters.
You need a very patient nature along with good attendance and time keeping to succeed on this apprenticeship. It’s important to ensure that you complete study tasks and always ask if you need help.
