I am 20 years old and I work for Seen Magazine. I was working in retail, when a friend told me about tpm; I had just finished my A – Levels and decided that University was not for me.
I am currently working towards my Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. I decided on this particular course with help from tpm’s Business Development manager. She was really helpful and as I have always wanted to work in media, I knew this was a great opportunity for me.
My job title is Administrative and Editorial Assistant and my role involves administrating databases and invoicing, as well as maintaining the website and producing Seen Magazine’s weekly e-newsletter. What I enjoy most about my work is that my role is varied and exciting. I work in a fun environment. Most of all I am learning about my chosen career. I have gained and improved my ICT skills because I am using the internet and office software daily.
tpm were most helpful to me from my first interview; they found me employment straight away. tpm kept in contact with me from the time of my interview to my actual start day giving me advice and checking everything was okay.
What I like most about my course is that it’s really different from school or general colleges it’s all about listening and doing exercises rather than writing big essays. I personally find this an easier and more enjoyable way of learning.
My assessor is very supportive; she keeps in regular contact with me and helped me when I was experiencing difficulty with my maths. Whenever I get in touch with her she responds almost straight away.
If you have something you are interested in then let tpm know because they are really good at accommodating people as best as they can. When I finish this qualification I would like to undertake a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) and develop my skills and knowledge further within my role.
