Name: Josh Fearon
Role: Marketing administrator

I’m a 19 year old advanced apprentice, working as marketing administrator at Training Plus merseyside (tpm).

I always wanted to work in administration and applied for many jobs unsuccessfully due to my lack of experience and qualifications.  A friend told me about tpm and I arranged an interview with them through the Connexions service.

tpm found me a position with a small Liverpool company, and I started on a level 2 business administration apprenticeship. Unfortunately, in 2009 I was made redundant but tpm gave me the opportunity to finish my qualification working in their offices.

When I completed my administration qualification, tpm offered me a permanent job. I began my advanced apprenticeship, undertaking the administration for the marketing department. I enjoy everything about my job, most of all knowing I am working towards a higher qualification, gaining excellent experience and making good friends.

tpm helped me discover I’m dyslexic  and provide extensive support, especially during classes and my fortnightly visits from my assessor.

I have gained excellent communication skills and gained confidence from my apprenticeship training. I have learned to use Microsoft Office applications, which I use every day at work. Now I am learning to use web publishing and e-marketing software applications, and recently researched and published an article to the Company’s website.

I can really recommend business administration. It’s a great sector to get into and will set you on a career path for life. Anything’s possible if you put your mind to it!
