Daisy and Jake's Owner Lisa Collins with her Woman of the year awardOne of tpm’s top 10 employers and owner of Daisy and Jake’s Nurseries, Lisa Collins has been named the Liverpool Daily Post’s Merseyside Woman of the Year 2011.

The event, organised by the directors of Women in Business, took place on Friday at Liverpool’s Crown Plaza hotel where Lisa was presented with her award. Speaking of her achievement, Lisa said: ‘This is fantastic recognition for all I have achieved and the sacrifices made along the way. I am delighted to win such an accolade, especially against tough competition.’

Daisy and Jake's innovative approach to childcare gives apprentices an outstanding environment in which to learn and develop their childcare knowledge and skills and includes 'Forest Schools', focusing on children thriving in the outdoor environment. Lisa believes these elements along with teams of dedicated staff are what set Daisy and Jake apart from other nurseries. The Company is also close to achieving Freen Flag status to become the first Wirral nursery to qualify as an officail 'Eco School', whilst their business expansion plans include offering a nursery consultancy service.

Lisa passionately believes that with dedication, women in business can maintain a quality work/life balance and achieve whatever goals they set and hopes that her success inspires future generations of entrepreneurs.

Manager of tpm’s Childcare programmes, Tammy Vickery, said ‘we are delighted at Lisa’s success, it confirms why Daisy and Jake is one of our top 10 employers and why their success rating with apprentices exceeds 70%.’
