Successful Open Day for School Leavers

Hairdressing staff demonstrate teaching resources Friday 13th May was no unlucky day at tpm, because we welcomed 167 visitors to our annual Open Day. 116 school leavers, and their parents and support workers attended.

Personal Advisor, Julie Zavros from the Connexions service was in attendance and provided independent information support and guidance for parents and young people on the day. tpm staff welcomed young people from 46 Merseyside Schools; St Francis Assisi, St Ambrose Barlow, Weatherhead, Holly Lodge, Enterprise South Liverpool Academy and Broughton Hall, were particularly supportive of the event, supplying large numbers.

Childcare Teacher Steven Clark talks to Apprenticeship CandidatesAll teaching, assessment, recruitment and support staff were on hand with advice, support and guidance about careers in Hairdressing, Barbering, Childcare and Business Administration. Steven Clark and Catherine Roberts are pictured giving talks and demonstrations to parents and young people. Staff also demonstrated: practical hairdressing techniques; demonstrations of learning and support software; how to hold an infant using an interactive doll and communication skills using telephone training systems.

One parent wrote on our Facebook page on Friday: “We attended today with our Daughter and she was made to feel very welcome and given lots of information. She is definitely going to make her application for an apprenticeship in childcare with tpm.”

Employers can rest assured that tpm will be encouraging an excellent selection of Apprentice candidates to register their interest with the National Apprenticeship Service on their portfolio this year.
