Paediatric First Aid Skills for Childcare Apprentices
This year tpm introduces the EDI Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid. These units appear in the Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification. They encompass a strong practical skills element and will be assessed through practical assessments, oral questioning and multiple-choice tests.
Teaching and assessment will ensure the requisite 20 Guided Learning Hours are met over a four-week teaching scheme and cover the knowledge and skills required to take initial action in a health emergency involving children and babies. Apprentices Samantha Mangan and Zoe Edwards are pictured above helping Teachers Natalie Askew and Steven Clarke put the infant and junior resuscitation dolls through initial tests.
tpm are working in collaboration with Saz Innovation Solutions to deliver and quality-assure the PFA unit whichfeatures in the scheme of work in July 2011. All new and current Level 2 Certificate and Young People’s Workforce Apprentices will participate from July.
