New National Minimum Wage Rate for Apprentices

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) is a minimum amount per hour that most workers in the UK are entitled to be paid. Find out what the current rates are and where to get help if you think you are being paid below the minimum wage rate.

From the 1st of October 2011 the (NMW) rate for Apprentices aged 16-18 and those aged 19 but in the first year of an apprenticeship is £2.60/hour. The NMW applies to time spent working plus time spent training as this is also part of the apprenticeship.

Anyone not signed to a approved Government Apprenticeship will be entitled to the NMW rate appropriate and relevant to their age for any work conducted on any date not covered by an officially signed and registered apprenticeship agreement.
