Movie genres inspire student hair show

Olivia Jago's Winning ModelThe tpm Annual Student Hair Show 2011 brought a glimpse of Hollywood to Liverpool last night as the ‘Eclectic Box Office’ student hair show inspired a showcase of Apprentice talent and creativity. John Grahame, lead judge from Toni & Guy Whitechapel, Liverpool commented that yet again tpm staff and learners had provided an arena and opportunity for young people and employers to shine their talent and services. The panel of judges further commented that the standard of work by students remained very high, especially under the pressure of a live audience’.Cat Woman inspired model

The show, held on the 23rd March consisted of four live hair competitions entitled, Romantic Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror and Action. The 250 strong crowd was witness to some extraordinarily original hair and re-cycled costume creations, all performed live by tpm Apprentices and qualified hairdressers.

The evening included the presentation of Exceptional Achievement Awards to the following students who demonstrated real commitment to their own progression and achievement: Leah Ryder, Danielle Moore, Leanne Gerrard, Melissa Kerr, Sophie Cook, Patrick Wilson, Alexandra Owens and Janine McGinnigle.

Celebrity Hair Salon Hooka were the proud recipients of a double celebration, being awarded ‘most supportive employer 2011’ as nominated by tpm’s hairdressing department, who also awarded Hayley Shaw (Hooka) student of the year.

Photographs of all competitors and models are available at competitive rates from our professional colleagues Richard and Verity at Cetra Studios. The event raised over £200 from donations on the door, which will be donated to the Trevor Sorbie inspired charity My New Hair.
