ICT KeyboardThe Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) and the Council for Administration (CFA) are re-introducing the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Key skill / Functional skill in the structure of their Apprenticeship frameworks from the 1st April 2011.

What will this mean to learners and employers?

  • ICT assessment opportunities will be planned for during assessment plan reviews in the workplace
  • ICT teaching classes will be introduced at tpm, to prepare learners for the additional key skill exam at level 1 or level 2
  • Apprentices will meet the Level 1 Key Skill Project requirement by completing their ENVQ portfolio system
  • Advanced Apprentices will have additional level 2 Key Skill Project work to complete
  • At present, school ICT examinations will be recognised as proxy qualifications
  • Incorporating ICT may mean some additional teaching and assessment time for some learners and employers

The re-introduction of the ICT qualifications in Apprenticeship Frameworks is in preparation for the Functional Skills Qualifications held over by Government until 2012, when all Awards will include ICT.

If you have additional questions about the re-introduction of ICT in these awards, please contact Quality Director Paula Hayes.
