tpm share strategic vision for Dyslexia recognition and support

10 Strategic Managers and senior support practitioners from 7 prolific Merseyside Training Providers gathered at tpm on Friday 22nd for a half-day conference to share and review the best practice developed by tpm staff in the recognition, analysis and support of Learners with Dyslexia in the organisation.

The event provided delegates with an overview of tpm’s strategic and operational priorities for implementing a successful Dyslexia recognition and support strategy with learners. Real case studies and reports were used to exemplify practices and delegates had the opportunity to trial the screening software developed by Adult Dyslexia Access (ADA), and to field questions to Director Brian Quinn, who developed the Company’s strategy and Paula Ebden; the Company's Learner Support Manager.

Delegate evaluation was outstanding and included commentary such as: "The content and issues covered were fantastic; Really engaging and informative, providing support mechanismsthat we can acess for our learners".

tpm's work with Dyslexic Learners and those with wider social support needs is a very successful model and one which has achieved year-on-year improvements. In 2009-10, 90% of Learners with additional learning and social support needs acheved their Apprenticeship Frameworks.

The tpm model has received regular acclaim, including from the Greater Merseyside Learning Providers Federation and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) who provided initial funding for Merseyside Training Providers to study for BTEC National Diplomas in Dyslexia Recognition and Analysis; an award also developed by Adult Dyslexia Access in Liverpool.
