2009-10 Success Rates Hit 82%

Once again tpm’s Quality Improvement Plan increases success rates for learners during 2009-10. As tpm staff review performance and effectiveness during their annual self-assessment process, data shows a 4% increase on last year, in overall success rates to 82%.

The Company's overall success rate is a cumulative reflection of good and outstanding achievements across each of its learning programmes. The Business Administration programme achieved an 88% overall success rate, (whilst 83% of BA learners achieved on-time); The Childcare Programme achieved an overall success rate of 85% and 71% of Hairdressing Learners successfully achieved their awards.

There are also very high achievement rates amongst the diverse student groups, for example learners receiving additional learning or social support achieved an 90% success rate; 10% higher than last year and 8% higher than the Company overall; an outcome cited as exemplary and best practice by a Government Adviser, recently. Learner Support Manager, Paula Ebden stated that ‘…a coordinated and collaborative approach by staff to ensure an individual and tailored approach for learning support is proving very effective'.

These results are synonymous with the views of learners and employers assessed in our bi-annual surveys. They also align very well with employer and learner responses in the independent Government Framework for Excellence measures published in 2008-9, in which learners grade tpm OUTSTANDING. FfE grades from 2009-10 are yet to be published.

Jean Haram, Director responsible for contracts and performance, commented: '...again we see learners staff and employers alike celebrating increased achievement’.
